What to prepare for an existing website revamp

Gather content, media, pages and existing routes before planning the new website.

Define the goal

Identify the issue: unclear information, difficult updates or mobile usability. Prioritize pages important to the business. Migrating everything without a reason is not a useful starting point.

Check information and media rights

Gather copy, logos, photographs and original files you are allowed to use. Identify outdated information. The existing site helps research, but its assets and text still need review.

Separate pages from recurring records

Service and company information are static pages. News, articles, portfolios and repeated records belong in suitable modules. Specify record counts, languages, URLs to retain, forms and external integrations.

Agree the migration scope

Confirm the sitemap, presentation, reviewer and deliverables. Check links, images, mobile use and search information before launch. Timing depends on complete inputs, pages, migration and complexity, so assess the actual project.
